Topic: Ethical Hacking and the Hacking Process

Speaker: Stephen Lesnik

Abstract: This presentation will explore the methods used by criminal hackers and network defenders and includes a discussion of some of the processes and tools used and the ethics that play a part in being an Ethical Hacker. Additionally, the presentation shows examples of simple hacks that can be used for or against an organization simply by using Google along with a discussion of common weaknesses that leave companies vulnerable.

Bio: Stephen Lesnik has over thirty years in the computing industry with experience in most areas of security, administration, and development. He has worked for private industry, civilian and defense contractors, and independently as a consultant in IT Management. His work in cyber security can be traced back to the late 1980s when he designed the security architecture and overall design of a system for managing controlled substances at a pharmaceutical company to his current work as a defense contractor, which has included the development of system defense tools and enterprise key management systems. Stephen has been an adjunct instructor for Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and the University of Maryland University College, teaching courses including E-Commerce Security and Cyber Crime and Cyber Terrorism. He is certified in areas of cyber security, agile development methods, and program management holding CISSP-ISSMP, CEH, PMP, PMI-ACP, and Certified ScrumMaster certifications along with an MA and MBA.
