Monthly Meeting for April 2017

Topic: Speaker Shapna Pal is a PhD student in the GWU Systems Engineering program.

Collecting data through expert elicitation regarding rank ordering of technical security controls in a cloud computing environment, and then eliciting likelihood of breaching layered defenses.

Shapna is also a collegiate faculty professor in The Graduate School at UMUC for Cyber-security and Information Assurance.
She is working on collecting data through expert elicitation regarding rank ordering of technical security controls in a cloud computing environment, and then eliciting likelihood of breaching layered defenses--and using that likelihood data to create a Bayes' rep. She is building an expert elicitation tool (electronic survey) that she hopes to distribute to cyber-security professionals. The other part of my research is that I am using the Delphi method in which 3 rounds are conducted for expert elicitation. After each round, the results are fed back to the participants, anonymized, and I, as the researcher calculate the variance between each round--hopefully this grows smaller and the results start converging.
