Monthly Meeting for May 2018

Agenda: Cybersecurity and Elections: Protecting Our Democracy.

Speaker: Debbie Plunkett

The 2016 Presidential election illuminated the very real threats that malicious actors can pose to American democracy.  Political campaigns at all levels are at risk as are election processes.  Cyber threats are not partisan - they are a threat to all parties.   Over the past year, a number of non-partisan efforts have focused on campaign and/or election security.  Harvard's Defending Digital Democracy Project (D3P) has assembled a bipartisan team of experts to provide simple, actionable ways of countering these growing threats.  After numerous engagements with campaigns and elections officials, several products have been developed to provide baseline security recommendations.

This talk will focus on what is known, what has been learned, and what is being done to contribute to the protection of our basic and fundamental democratic right - to vote.
